Though they’re not household names, foundries are key businesses throughout the U.S., and especially here in Hastings Mutual’s six-state coverage area. The most foundries in the country are in Ohio, with Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana in the top 10 and Iowa close behind at 14. Foundries make (or “cast”) metal into useful products from nails and screws to housing and vehicles. They’re a kind of business that supports so much in our part of the country, and we want to support them.
