Consistency and efficiency within our technology business processes helps the entire company, our agents, and our policyholders. Recently, the BTP team implemented an enhancement to how First Notice of Loss (FNOL) information is accessed and supplied.
First Notice of Loss (FNOL) is the first step in the claim process, wherein a loss is reported to Hastings Mutual. One available method for policyholders is to report a loss through the Hastings Mutual website via an online form. When an FNOL is submitted, the online application interacts with PolicyCenter or Series 2, depending on the line of business, to locate supporting policy information. With this enhancement, the online application will now only need to rely on one source for retrieving policy information, the Data Warehouse. A single source of information allows for faster response times, consistency within the process, and a clarity in procedure.
While this change in system process may seem small, it is a notable step toward gaining efficiency. As we continue to add lines of business to PolicyCenter, we’ll no longer have to make backend system changes for FNOL. The Data Warehouse will be the single source.
This single source lays the foundation for future improvements, as well. This model can be extrapolated to other enterprises, streamlining processes, across the board.
