125 Years of Excellence
The Illinois Department of Insurance issued a bulletin to all insurers doing business in the state, requiring insurance companies to provide safeguards for consumers in DeKalb and Ogle counties. Those two counties were declared state disaster areas after tornadoes and storms caused significant damage there on April 9, 2015. Effective immediately, Hastings Mutual will comply with Company Bulletin 2015-08. We will withdraw any cancellation or nonrenewal notice issued on or after April 9 for any insured whose mailing address or whose insured property location is in any zip code in those two counties. We will not issue any new cancellation or nonrenewals in the disaster areas until June 9, 2015.
As directed by the Department of Insurance, we are also granting any affected policyholders a sixty-day extension of time to comply with policy provisions that have a time limit, including an extension of time for making repairs prior to termination due to the condition of the property.
This website posting provides the following hotline information. All Illinois consumers are advised that they may call the Illinois Department of Insurance toll-free complaint hotline at 1-866-445-5364, to file a complaint regarding any disaster-related dispute or issue. In the alternative, consumers may file a complaint online at:http://insurance.illinois.gov/Complaints/Understand_Complaint_process.asp
We wish the best to our neighbors in DeKalb and Ogle counties as they recover and rebuild after these storms. Thank you for your continued business.
