Nonprofit of the Month: Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center

The Hastings Mutual Insurance Company Charitable Foundation recognizes the contributions of nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve. Each month, we’ll honor one of those organizations as our Nonprofit of the Month.

Even though it’s the middle of the summer, school will come again this fall. Many children will be back in their school building with classmates, teachers, and school supplies. While every child deserves an education, not everyone can afford the costs of living for a healthy and safe home life.

The Lincoln-Central neighborhood contains about 2,000 households in downtown Columbus, Indiana, about 40 miles south of Indianapolis.

The Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center provides support for rent, utility bills, and basic needs like cleaning supplies. In 2020, the Center was able to help nearly 1,000 people stave off significant debt. Relief that had often been available in the past was less frequent as families and businesses dealt with COVID-19. The need is just as great in 2021 but funding is harder to find.
